Jammu, Dec 27: Senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand the other day claimed that the Congress will emerge as the single largest party in the state in the forthcoming Assembly elections. "The Congress will emerge as single largest party in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state…As far as I know we (NC and Congress) have been delivering to the best of our capacities. But people always expect higher from any Government and we too want to give our best to the people. As far as the functioning of our coalition goes, let me tell you that it is running smoothly. Education, health sector, power supply, safe drinking water, social welfare schemes, infrastructure building, exploiting tourism potential, agriculture and employment generation have been the priorities of the present coalition Government and many achievements have been recorded in the respective fields since the formation of the Government in 2009," he said.

Moreover, the State Government has made a fresh request before Union Government for release of at-least Rs. 1000 Crore out of total SPA component, as first installment.

Jammu, Dec 27: A group of unidentified robbers late Thursday night made a desperate attempt to loot an ATM in the densely populated Nanak Nagar area but when they failed to broke open the machine they decamped with the same after uprooting it from inside the room with the help of a vehicle.
