EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 20: It is now official. The state government will not allow BJP's Ekta Yatra reach up to the historic Lal Chowk on January 26, Republic Day. But ,in what appears to be the state government and the BJP heading for a big 'collision and clash' over flag hoisting row, both are readying with antagonistic strategies. Even as state government today formally announced it would 'withstand the act' for maintaining law and order and larger motive of peace in the state, the BJP is moving ahead with preparations in complete defiance of what government contends. Though it was a foregone conclusion that government will stop the Yatra far ahead of its destination, the decision was given somewhat formal shape today in presence of few ministers and higher authorities. "We have all respect for the national tricolour………the government will celebrate the Republic Day with great fervour and enthusiasm across the state…..every thing would be done with dignity and honor……elaborate arrangements are being made to hoist flags at every place", said a senior minister in the coa...

Agencies New Delhi, Jan 20: Questioning Jammu and Kashmir government's opposition to BJP's Ekta Yatra, senior party leader LK Advani today said the move was in no way challenging the state government but separatists. "Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has said the move will precipitate things in the valley. It is a provocative step. It is provocative not for India but its enemies...we are not challenging the government but the separatists," he said. Interlocutors seek road maps from separatists

EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 20: New Delhi's nominated interlocutors on Jammu Kashmir today invited the separatists for talks. "We are ready to talk to them anytime anywhere", they said. The separatists, it may be mentioned, have so far ignored the interlocutors. Talking to a local news agency, noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, who heads the team of three interlocutors, said, "If separatists do not want to talk to us personally, they should come up with written proposals or a road map on Kashmir." Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 20: Jammu police today registered case of negligence against Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) after two labourers were buried under the debris at Sarwal today. Both are reported to have died on spot. Mismanagement and ill-planning of ERA which has remained under criticism since day 1 of its taking over developmental works across Jammu city seemingly took life of two labourers engaged by a contractor namely Joginder Pal Singh for digging work at a Sewerage site in Sarwal. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 20: A B.Ed. student was today stabbed by two youth at Mukerjee Chowk in Kathua. Police sources identified the victim as Ravinder Singh, son of Rattan Singh of Barwal and the accused as Bhavnesh Singh, son of Sagar Singh of Barwal, and Mitu Sharma, son of Gopal Sharma of ward No 10, Kathua. Sources said Ravinder, a student of R S B.Ed. college in Kathua, had come to Mukerjee Chowk to buy books when the accused allegedly stabbed him with sharp-edged weapons. Ravinder was hospitalised.
