RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: Should we continue to devise solutions based on the assumption that the Valley and its leaders belonging to a particular religious sect represent the general will and that recognizing the Valley as the sole factor in the state's political situation and accepting the political demands of a section of the Kashmiri leaders would be the same as meeting the political needs of all the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh? Or, should we look beyond the Valley and go in for the reorganization of the state's existing polity on a regional basis in order to first accommodate the political aspirations of the people of Jammu and Ladakh, who have borne the brunt o...

Will New Delhi allow 2 PMs in India?
12/3/2010 11:43:09 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: The National Conference at a meeting today to finalize to observe the 105 birth anniversary made a mention of 1952 Delhi Agreement and Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. The contemporary leadership of the National Conference, it seems, has a weak memory. They must know how Sher-e-Kashmir behaved during and after the Beg-Parthasarthy dialogue which culminated into 1975 accord. Before his deputy signed the 1975 accord, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, during an interaction with the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi said: "Let us start from where I left in 1953. Gandhi replied, Sheikh Saheb, while I respect your sentiments, I must tell you that the clock can...

12/3/2010 11:42:55 PM
NEHA EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 3: The General Officer Commanding in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, Lt General BS Jaswal, shocked the nation yesterday by dissociating the Army from the November 30 Public Relation Officer Lt Col Pradeep Kochhar's statement regarding the Qamarwari terrorist-police clash which led to the death of three terrorists and one policeman. He should not have done so. Instead, he should have defended Kochhar to the hilt in the larger interest of the Army - an institution the Indian nation respects from the core of their heart, notwithstanding the involvement of certain top-ranking Army officers in the infamous Adrash Society scam. Lt General Jaswal has undo...
