| | A tale of two associations of lawyers | J&K Unnatural Formation -- I | | Rustam
JAMMU, Dec 3: The so-called State of Jammu and Kashmir is not a natural formation. It is an unnatural formation, outcome of an accident of history -- accident that caused the people of Jammu province immense losses in socio-economic and political terms and benefited Kashmir in every respect. The accident took place in 1846, when ruler of Jammu Maharaja Gulab Singh purchased Kashmir from the British paying Rs 75 lakh. Though a great diplomatic and political feat, it jeopardized the interests of the people of Jammu in all practical purposes. The integration of Kashmir into the Jammu kingdom not only harmed Jammu but also led to the rise of a situation that gave an opportunity to the o...
| | Congress, BJP and issue of Jammu's empowerment | Absence Of Leadership | | Neha
JAMMU, Dec 3: The NC and the PDP are basically Kashmir-based and Valley-centric formations. They have nothing to do with the people of Jammu. They only make hollow slogans as far as the issue of Jammu's empowerment is concerned and exploit them politically, socially and economically. They simply say that they are for the state's equitable development but in practical terms they perpetrate on the people of Jammu only injustices. Besides, they believe in and practice ideology that is not consistent with the aspirations of the people of Jammu province. It can be legitimately said that both the NC and the PDP are essentially anti-Jammu. That precisely is the reason behind the failure of t...
