The then Chairman of the Purchase committee Dr. A.K.Srivastava, whose sanction for prosecution has been denied by the present VC Dr. B.Mishra, being a scientist knew better than anyone else whether these costly equipments were required or not yet he assented to the proposal of purchasing these equipments...

The department falls under Congress leader and minister Taj Mohiudin, against whom the "toothless" state accountability commission (SAC) has already registered a case in a land scam.
Next to him in the department is "tainted" commissioner/secretary Mehboob Iqbal. Surprisingly, Taj had opted to have him appointed PHE commissioner an year, or so back when his name already figured in...

Jammu, Dec 9: Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president, Dr Abdullah today said his party has been a champion of human rights from the very beginning.
While NC history is not rosy, the current regime led by NC has been an era of "broken bones and shattered window panes." A poor man from Lachmanpora, Batmaloo who lost his daughter during last year's agitation said, "Omar's regime has been an era of broken bones and shattered window panes. Pertinent to mention 120 persons, mostly school going children got killed last year. "If this is democracy, the people of Jammu Kashmir do not need it", he said.

| | Would Lokpal institution make a difference in J&K? | | |
early times report
Jammu, Dec 9: M.Y. Tarigami, CPI M general secretary for the State has said he would move a bill in the forthcoming session of the State assembly seeking to bring the middle and lower rungs of administration under the ambit of the State Accountability Commission. It is quite a revelation that the middle and lower rungs of bureaucracy have so far been kept out of the Accountability Commission's jurisdiction.
A hot debate has been going on in the State whether a Lokpal authority on the lines proposed by Team Anna should be formed in the State and whether such an authority would really help eradicate corruption from public life.
There is no use denying that fact that ...

| | Lawyers up in arms against NC-Congress coalition | | | NEHA
JAMMU, Dec 9: The black-coated community of lawyers has been striking work for days now to draw the official attention to their demands but with no result. The government has refused to see reason. | | UPA Government In Disarray | Are we heading towards mid-term polls? | | RUSTAM
JAMMU, Dec 9: Are we heading towards mid-term polls? The answer seems to be in the affirmative. Finance Minister and the Congress party's trouble-shooter Pranab Mukharjee on Thursday did say that had the government insisted on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail trade, it would have collapsed and the country would have faced mid-term polls. He told the Congress MPs that the government didn't have the numbers on his side and, hence, the decision to suspend the cabinet decision.
The climb down has weakened the position of the Prime Minister. It can be said that he is not in command. The virtual rollback has not only dented his own image and position but has also low...
