Sectt employees change 'course' of agitation
Staying overnight in offices……..Will the unconventional strategy work?
9/9/2011 12:22:55 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 8: In what can be seen as an unprecedented and historic move, employees of Civil Secretariat changed the 'course' of their agitation within the premises by deciding to stay overnight in their offices and doing work as normal. The sudden changed pattern of the striking employees forced some ministers and senior officers, including Chief Secretary and some Commissioners to stay back till late in the night. Elsewhere outside the secretariat, the employees in both the regions stuck to respective prorgammes of protests and demonstrations on the third day of pen down strike today. Even as in a bid to scuttle and fail the scheduled programmes of joint rallies an...

Why do our politicians always LEAK?
9/9/2011 12:21:18 AM
Early Times Report jammu, Sept 8: The Wiki Leaks expose on The State must embarrass every politician in Jammu and Kashmir to say the least. Politics in Kashmir is as dirty as the Dal Lake, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq opposed Syed Ali Shah Geelani's passport, and Omar Abdullah said India was not serious in solving the problem as cultural exchanges with Pakistan would achieve nothing. What surprises one the most is the fact that highly tightlipped and shrewd politicians start singing like parrots when it comes to the Americans? The country has been liberated from the yoke of slavery, but all of us, or at least the Indian politicians, continue to be slaves of the white skinned foreigners. It is ver...

How morally correct it is to suggest clemency for those whose hands are drenched with blood of innocents
9/9/2011 12:19:28 AM
Bharat Bhushan JAMMU, Sept 8: Prompted by the overt support of Tamil Nadu and Punjab for clemency to the three convicts who were found involved in terrorist attacks, J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted few days back: "If J&K assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru, would the reaction have been as muted? I think not." And, the reaction was there for all to see. On this side of Jawahar Tunnel, people held anti-government and anti-Omar demonstrations, demanding that Afzal be sent to gallows. His death sentence should not be commuted to life sentence. A militant was only a ruthless killer and did not have any religion, the protesters said. A week,...

Appeal to Hon'ble speaker by Shri Chaman Lal Gupta BJP MLA
9/9/2011 12:05:57 AM
Sir, I had raised a question during the last session of the state assembly seeking a reply from the government regarding the decision to stop government advertisements to the daily Early Times published from Jammu. I had also spoken about the highhandedness of the government and its arbitrary, whimsical dispensation regarding distribution of official advertisements to the various newspapers published in the state. Despite repeated requests, the state government did not come forward with any reply to my question and the result has been that through its decision to ignore my question the state government has covertly accepted that it does not have a reasonable answer to my question. Hon'b...
